Qigong - What is it? How does it help?

Qigong , pronounced 'Chee Gong', is an ancient Chinese therapy system consisting of Moving Meditation and Mind-Body wellness practice, which is a combination of Movement, Posture, Breathing, and Awareness. I have been taking a few classes to learn this ancient technique and loving the awareness and stillness which I feel within.

This post gives a brief introduction to Qigong and it's various benefits.

I hope this will motivate you to join the practice this week.

Include this as a part of your daily wellness routine; reap the advantages for a lifetime!!

With a regular practice, qigong benefits can be felt almost immediately.

Qigong is an ancient form of Chinese yoga that cultivates “qi” (life energy) also known as chi and incorporates deep breathing and stretching.

Qigong is an integration of physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intentions. Qigong practices can be classified as martial, medical, or spiritual. All styles have three things in common: they all involve a posture, (whether moving or stationary), breathing techniques, and mental focus. Some practices increase the Qi; others circulate it, use it to cleanse and heal the body, store it, or emit Qi to help heal others. Practices vary from the soft internal styles such as Tai Chi; to the external, vigorous styles such as Kung Fu.

The benefits of Qi Gong are numerous.

Here are the top 10 Benefits of Practicing Qi Gong:

- Have more energy

- Feel stronger

- Recover from illness

- Reduce stress and relax your mind

- Eliminate aches and pains – even sciatica

- Improve digestion

- Sleep better

- Improve balance

- Improve flexibility and range of motion

- Improve blood circulation and reduce blood pressure

I hope these benefits motivate you to try the practice this week. I am teaching Qigong movements alongside Asanas.

We will move mindfully, consciously, increasing Pranic Flow / Chi Flow throughout the body and mind.

Namaste
