It's hot outside! - Try these 3 cooling Ayurvedic drinks

As the temperatures rise outside, we want to keep the body & mind cool with our food and drinks. According to Ayurveda, the beverages we drink should be at room temperature and not iced.

The digestive fire (Agni) tends to be weaker in summer than in winter, so we shouldn't douse out that fire with iced drinks.

These are 3 Ayurvedic drinks you can make at home with a few ingredients.

They will keep you cool, keep the body hydrated, and hopefully keep your mind in balance too :)

Watermelon & Mint Cooler:

4 cups fresh Watermelon pieces, deseeded

1 handful fresh mint leaves 1 lime, juiced 1 sprinkle Himalayan pink salt Instructions:

Put the watermelon, mint, lime juice, and a sprinkle of salt into a blender and mix well. Let it rest for 20 minutes; then, enjoy your drink.

Rose water & Yogurt Lassi:

Very different, delicately flavored with rose water; this is a great addition, try it.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup fresh yogurt

1 cup water

1 tsp. organic Rose water

1 tsp organic honey

1 cardamom pod seeds, crushed

Instructions:

Blend all ingredients until smooth; let it rest for 10 minutes and then drink.

Cucumber & Aloe Lassi :

We have all had traditional Lassi growing up; but this version is slightly different, has cucumber & aloe. It tastes fresh, and yummy and is considered to make your skin glow!

Ingredients:

1 small handful Cilantro, rinsed 2 cups organic coconut water 1 small Persian cucumber, diced peeled, deseeded 1 tsp organic aloe vera gel juice of 1 lime 1 tablespoon maple syrup

1 tsp Himalayan pink salt

Instructions:

Blend the cilantro leaves, coconut water, aloe vera gel, juice of the lime, maple syrup & salt first. Then, add diced cucumber and blend well. You can sieve the blended mix to get the essence of the juices. Adjust salt and maple syrup for optimum taste. Enjoy!
